Majesco is still committed to Advent.

The following is taken from the January issue of Official Xbox Magazine (OXM).

To Be Continued...?

I was wondering whether you knew anything about an Advent Rising sequel. I think it’s one of the best Xbox games ever and the ending (er endings) really left me hanging. So for peace of mind, I would like to know whether or not there’s a sequel in the works.
-David Sianissian

We Say: You’re not the only Advent Rising fan, David. We dug the kinetic and story-driven action that GlyphX’s debut effort delivered, and the developer has always gone on record saying that the game was planned as the first of a trilogy. Unfortunately, Majesco wouldn’t go on record specifically addressing the future of the Advent series. What a representative for the company did say was, “While Majesco is currently focused on their new upcoming titles for 2006...we remain committed to our existing, originally developed intellectual properties including Advent Rising and Bloodrayne, but are not ready to make any announcements at this time.”

Thanks to Soma Holiday from the Majesco boards for the info.

hey Robin,

Yep - I read your comment and also the one from RM.

Not sure there is much to say... Majesco did not have a good time working with GlyphX... but do GlyphX even own the rights to Advent any more? I dont think so. After the Mustard Bros left I thought the rights went to Majesco.

If we accept what RM is saying as fact, it still doesn't tell us much. They are considering another Advent, but I'm sure they are considering a bunch of other projects. If JAWS does well, maybe we will see more licensed games of movies from the 70s and 80s :S.

but rooney, Majesco is just the publisher! The rights az Advent are owned always by the maker, aren't they?

by the way, I hate Majesco :)they always bring their prod.s a year later to Europe :P

I am sure Jaw is gonna fail real bad. Does not have much to offer!

Sometimes the publishers are the ones that own the rights... and maybe in this case the rights were sold to Majesco for more cash up front? (Bad move by Majesco)

Perhaps the Mustard boys still own the rights? (A possibility I think) They are no longer with GlyphX... so the next Advent would be from someone else.

Advent Rising has just become history. It is now only a memory.

Honestly, it doesn't matter who makes the game. The groundwork is there. The plot is amazing. According to some folk, the game "failed" on the technical aspects. And frankly, i don't how people were having slow frame rates. On my PC the game didn't even slow down to choppy frame rates ONCE! So that 7.5 or 6.0 is a little bit too hard. But anyways.

its the same thing with KOTOR. Bioware did the first one. Obsidion picked it up and did a hell of a job with the second one. AND are now working on the third now.

The same thing will happen with AR. Either Majesco will make the sequel (which i really doubt) or will sell the rights to another company. The hype is already there. We just need a developer now.

So no, the game is NOT history

I always wanted this game when I first read about it,but never saw it for sale in shops in Britain, and even when I asked about it staff in Game and Gamestation hadn't heard of it and didn't know when or if it would be available,I managed to just get hold of a second hand copy, and think this game is brilliant with no more flaws than most other games,I have only noticed slow down once and only a little bit, nowhere near as much as your average game and even some top titles, but I suppose the developer didn't bribe the games press to give their game a top review, I'm sure it happens, because to many so called great games are rubbish even though a magazine or two gave them 10 out of ten, this game deserves a much better review,I think it's great and totally addictive I can't leave it alone,I hope they make the sequels one day,but sadly unless games are made predominantly for online multiplayer they won't appeal to the masses, take the Halo games for example, they have a weak not worth playing single player mode, but only score as high as they do for the multiplayer aspect, which doesn't appeal to me at all,I love Advent rising and am so pleased I bought it.
